This Kathmandu Valley Tour, a five-day plan, is a trip designed for those who want to explore nothing but the historic Kathmandu Valley. As you may know, there is so much from historical architecture to religious temples to traverse in the stretch of the valley. The tour lets you have a slow and thorough exploration of all the major sites of the valley.
FYI, Kathmandu Valley, or Nepa Valley, is a bowl-shaped valley that comprises three historic cities of Nepal: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. According to legend, the valley was once a large lake that was eventually emptied after a hill was cut. The myth may or may not be real, but the valley’s significance is real.
Altogether, the valley is home to 130 notable ancient monuments, including seven UNESCO world heritage sites. The seven popular world heritage sites in the valley are Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Chagu Naryan Temple.
This tour will take you on a journey to visit each of the seven heritage sites one by one. The visit to those locations will transport you back in time, and the rich Nepalese Architecture and ambiance will leave you speechless. It will also be an educational walk to Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage sites. Alongside, there will be a short drive to Nagarkot, the famous hill station to view Kathmandu Valley and spectacular mountain view.
After the five days of the Kathmandu Valley Tour Itinerary, you’ll have a whole different portrait of Kathmandu Valley and Nepal as a whole. And Nepal will hold a particular place in your heart as a result of this tour.
The tour starts from here as we do breakfast and head to Swayambhunath Stupa or Monkey Temple. We’ll have a brisk walk around this important Buddhist Stupa and a lovely view of Kathmandu city from its front yard. After this, we will go to Kathmandu Durbar Square, another heritage site. The durbar square is an area dotted with a museum, old pagoda temples, an ancient palace, and more. We’ll have time full of exploration around the yard.
Likewise, after experiencing Durbar Square, we’ll move towards Boudhanath stupa, one of the eye-striking stupas in the world. We’ll spend some time traversing the stupa area before heading in the direction of Pashupatinath Temple. We will have an evening stroll around Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples. Doing all of the visits, we’ll end the day back in the hotel.
Now we will drive towards Chagu Naryan Temple, the oldest temple of Nepal. It will take us one hour to reach the temple. We’ll stroll around this centuries-old temple for a while. The temple is an important temple for Hindu Pilgrims dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Moreover, you can have a close view of the local village life while hiking around the temple.
After knowing the corners of Chagu Naryan Temple, we'll drive towards Nagarkot as per our Kathmandu Valley Tour Itinerary. It will be a short drive of half an hour. As we reach Nagarkot, we’ll get a broad view of the surrounding landscapes, including Kathmandu Valley. Our third day of the tour will end with an eye-pleasing sunset view from Nagarkot.
We’ll wake up early to observe the famous sunrise view and mountain panorama in Nagarkot. The morning view will move us for a while. If the day is clear, we will see mountains like Langtang, Ganesh, Jugal, Everest, and other peaks. After that, we’ll have breakfast back in the hotel, and we’ll leave Nagarkot for Kathmandu.
We’ll drive back to Kathmandu, but via the two remaining cultural heritage sites of the tour: Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. Firstly, we’ll pay a visit around Bhaktapur Durbar Square’s temples and museums. Then we’ll drive to Patan City, where Patan Durbar Square is located. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the square and ancient temples and their architecture. This will also complete the Kathmandu Valley Tour’s sightseeing. Overnight back in Kathmandu’s hotel.
As the tour is already done, you will get ready for your departure. According to your schedule, we’ll transfer you to the airport for departure. Farewell.
