Five Best Treks in the Everest Region

1. Everest Base Camp Trek

First Thing First, Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the reasons we are writing something on the Everest Region here. The trek, which is one of the best treks in the world, has made the whole Everest Region a natural wonder of the world. Every year, many trekkers come to Nepal just to do this trek.

Everest Base Camp Trek is such a popular trek for some reasons. The main reason, of course, is Mt Everest. The walk will guide you to reach Everest Base Camp. You will have a close viewing of the mighty Everest from the base camp and Kala Patthar.

Likewise, you will enjoy being in the scenic Everest Region full of natural and cultural awe. The journey will begin from Lukla, and it will take you deep into the region to the foothills of Mt Everest. You will have many things to enjoy and experience along that journey, like the unique culture, lush vegetation, majestic peaks, ancient monasteries, prayer wheels, and many more.

With us, you can choose from two itineraries to do Everest Base Camp Trek: Standard Everest Base Camp Trek(17 days) and Short Everest Base Camp Trek(12 days). The standard one is for you if you are a beginner or love trekking slowly. On the other hand, the short EBC Trek is for the experienced trekker who can trek without needing acclimatization days.

2. Everest High Passes Trek

We have to put Everest High Passes Trek in second place. We did so because it is one of Nepal's most arduous trekking trails. That means it is mainly for the extreme and adventure lovers who can trek rough trails.

You will require around 20 days to complete the Everest High Passes Trek. The beautiful voyage sets off with a flight to Lukla. Then progressing through the Khumbu Region’s villages, you will end up crossing the three notable mountain passes of the region: Renjo La(5,385m), Cho La(5,360m), and Kongma La(5,360m). Along with that, you will also reach Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, Gokyo Valley, and its lakes, Gokyo Ri.

Best of all, you’ll have mountains panoramas from a couple of the best places in the Everest Region. You’ll come across each of the Everest Region’s mountains from quite near. The tour will take place through the Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Lakes. And you will get to investigate every corner of the valley. Similarly, you will get abundant opportunities to explore the region's cultural aspects.

Everest High Passes Trek is a complete trek if you want to traverse the whole Everest Region in one trip. But you have to be in great shape and have prior trekking experiences. Only then can you endure the challenges of the trek. The trek has many ups and downs, rough and demanding days. If those are your pieces of cake, this trek is genuinely for you. Otherwise, you can opt for other easier plans like Everest Panorama Trek.

3. Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes Trek

Out of many highlights of the Everest Region, Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes are two major ones. And this Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes Trek, the third trek on the list, is all about those two highlights.

Gokyo Ri is a mountain pass in the outskirts of Gokyo Valley with an elevation of around 5,357m. It is one of the best viewpoints in the Everest Region to watch mountain and landscape panoramas.  Hence, the ultimate point of the trek will be this one.

And Gokyo Lakes is a lake system of six freshwater blue lakes in the stretch of Gokyo valley. These lakes are eye-pleasing as they glitter with excellent brightness from the peaks. In that case, you’ll explore these lakes on the trek.

Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes Trek, a 14-day long trip, go through Lukla, Phakding, Namche, and then to the Gokyo Valley. It dodges the ever-busy trail of Everest Base Camp Trek to provide you with a tranquil trek experience. That is why it can be a great alternative to that packed trek.

On this journey, you will witness the lives of Sherpas, the rich natural beauty of the region, the iconic peaks, the crystal clear lakes, hanging bridges, mani walls, and many more. Therefore, Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes Trek is one of the best treks in the Everest Region.

4. Everest Panorama Trek

Everest Panorama Trek is an easy option for those who cannot trek in the higher parts of the Everest Region. Many people wish to do the altitude treks like Everest Base Camp Trek, Everest High Passes Trek. But only some can do them in reality due to lack of time and preparation. This Everest Panorama Trek is for those sorts of travelers.

It is a 10 days voyage that goes until Tengboche(3,870m), the highest part of the trek. The trekking part of this trek will start from Lukla. You’ll get to experience the easy trails of the Everest Region. Passing via Phakding, Namche, and Tengboche, you will encounter the happenings of the Everest Region.

The trek will display the region’s rich flora & fauna, rivers & streams, mountains & landscapes, suspension bridges & mani walls, and many more. You will have close time with the region's locals on this trek. All of these happenings will be experienced without taking any risk.

Everest Panorama Trek is one of the safest treks in the Everest Region. The chances of altitude sickness are non or relatively less. You’ll know what it is like to trek and breathe in the Everest Region with this trek.

If you are searching for an easy and quick trail to discover the Everest Region, there is no better option than this.

5. Everest Base Camp Via Gokyo Lakes Trek

Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes Trek is yet another trek you can do in the region of Mt Everest. It is just a modified version of Everest Base Camp Trek that goes via a new quiet trail.

Instead of the standard route, this trek to Everest Base Camp runs via Gokyo Valley. The trek happens on a less frequented side of the Everest Region. Some people do not like to trek in crowds; this itinerary is handcrafted for such trekkers. To do this trek, you will spend around 18 days in the region of the majestic peaks.

This trek has to offer something you cannot have in the regular Everest Base Camp Trek. On the trip via Gokyo lakes, you will explore the unexplored side of the Khumbu Region. You will pass via Gokyo lakes, Gokyo valley, cross Gokyo Ri & Cho La Pass before reaching the base camp of Mt Everest. You will experience so many beautiful things on this trek, from the streets of Namche Bazaar to the Kala Patthar’s best mountain panorama.

However, the expedition is not an easy piece of cake. It requires you to trek in the higher sides of the region. You will cross some of the major passes of the Khumbu Region. Thus, Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes is a little demanding but worthwhile trek. If you are a lover of challenges, this is your kind of Everest Base Camp Trek.
